A Screenshot Of Digital India(Part-2)

This new bend by Tania in the curve of our discussion added new dimensions. We were now tickling our brains to figure out how can we get different sections of our country under its scope. Though, the government does has plans like connecting the Gram Panchayats through a digital highway but a lot more needs to be done.

Since, internet is the primary pathway for the e-services I mentioned “ India accounts for the third highest number of internet users in the world yet it belongs to the list of 42 least connected countries in the world. This is not a good sign. The government should open computer workshops in large amount in the rural areas where the people of those areas are completely equipped with basic knowledge of computer and the usage of internet for their own benefit. Also, a portal should be opened where people like us who have the basic knowledge can act as their servers/mentors and the people from rural areas as our clients. A supervisor at the workshops can teach them how to log onto such portals. That way we’ll be able contribute as well, by serving their queries. The very motto is ‘Each One Teach One’ .”

Initially, I introduced myself to them and then they introduced themselves to me. They were all(Amit,Neha,Raghav,Shriya and Tania) in the sophomore year of graduation and I guess since I was just two years elder to them it was easier for me to gel up with the gang.

I broached the discussion by asking “Now that we’ve had ourselves introduced who is going to briefly introduce the topic?”

Raghav responded “ Well! ‘Digital India’ campaign is an ambitious campaign spearheaded by our Prime Minister Narendra Modi where he wishes to revolutionize a transformation in the way the government services are provided to the citizens. He wishes to change the facade of these services to e-services where ‘e’ stands for electronics, thereby, reducing the redundant paperwork which is required to avail these services time and again. The timeline to achieve this is 2019.”

PROLOGUE:

Last week, I was at a college for some work. I went to the college cafeteria to buy a cup of coffee where I spotted a group of students sitting around a circular table having a very lively confabulation. Though I couldn’t hear much of it clearly but it seemed like they were all coming up with ideas related to something as I heard someone say ‘ I think we should do it this way’ and then another one say ‘ How about this way?’. I was highly intrigued to learn the focal point of the discussion going on. I took my cup of coffee and walked a little closer. The table was all messed up with chart papers, pictures and colours.

What’s Up With Greece?(Part-3)

“ The situation is quite strangled right now in this beleaguered southern European Country. Mr. Tsipras is meeting Chancellor Angela Merkel of Germany, President Francois Hollande of France, Eu’s President Donald Tusk in the European Summit.

Germany put forward a proposal called as ‘Back Envelope’ which suggested that Greece should leave the Eurozone for five years believing that Greece’s debt could be written off only outside eurozone. There are rumours of Russians wanting to provide aid to Greece. But I wonder if that is true as Russia is already facing a recession.

What’s Up With Greece?(Part-2)

“ So initially we were at the Greece budget deficit figures in 2009” she said as soon as she hung up the phone.

I was glad that she was highly keen. “ And this is when the ‘Greek-government debt crisis hit’. [A little fact: It was the first crisis to be added to the list of European debt crisis and also Greece is the first developed country to fail to make a loan repayment to IMF]. ” I replied.

I further continued “ The debt figures are €317 billion with the amount being majorly owed to IMF,ECB and EU.

What’s Up With Greece?(Part-1)

Recently, a lot about Greece crisis, Greece bailout, Greece Referendum has been flooding the news headlines. So when I went to meet my friend at our 'adda' or I would say our favourite coffee shop she popped up with this question "What’s up with Greece?" a moment after she read on her cell phone 'Greeks overwhelmingly vote ‘no’ in rejection of austerity’ while surfing through the news. To which I replied "A lot much lately".

"Could you elaborate?" she asked. So, I began.
